The reconnaissance for the 57th edition of the Azores Rallye, event organised by Grupo Desportivo Comercial, which will be on the road at the end of this week, on March 31, has been taking place since yesterday. At the reconnaissances, the competitors make two passes through the special stages in order to note down the description of the itinerary and then use these same notes during the rally itself.
The reconnaissances are done by the teams in standard vehicles, equipped with GPS locators that allow the number of passes through the special stages to be checked, as well as compliance with the legal speed limits for the areas crossed. As with the rally as a whole, these rules are designed to ensure that the impact of the rally on the local population is as minimal as possible, so that the event does not disturb the daily life of the localities.
