Erik Cais will be present in the 57th Azores Rallye, organized by Grupo Desportivo Comercial, which takes place on March 31st and April 1st. The Czech driver will drive in São Miguel Island the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, from Orsak Rally Sport team, which he has already used in the two races he has been in this year. In 2023, Cais will line up for the third time in the Azorean rally, where he was present in 2019 with a Ford Fiesta R2T and in 2021 with a Ford Fiesta R5 Mk II.
At the age of 23, Erik was born in 1999 on the outskirts of Zlin, the Czech city where Barum Czech Rally is based and there is a great passion for road racing. His debut came in 2018 with an Opel Adam Cup and on that season entered in 10 more rallies with a Peugeot 208 R2. The following year he transitioned to a Ford Fiesta R2T, lined up in ERC Junior and, at the end of the season, won ERC3 in Hungary.
In 2020 he switched to a Ford Fiesta R5 Mk II and took his first two overall victories. In the last two years, always with the same car, he has combined the European and Czech championships with some appearances in WRC races and was the best WRC2 Junior at last year’s Monte Carlo Rally. In 2023 his biggest bet is again the world championship. He is one of the drivers with the best competitive rhythm entering the Azores Rallye as he has already had two participations this year.
