The Azores Rallye Anti-Covid-19 Task Force, its Organizing Committee and the Regional Health Authority gathered themselves on a meeting, yesterday morning, to present the third version of the event’s Contingency Plan which already includes all suggestions made by Tiago Lopes, the Regional Health Director, by the first work meeting that happened on last July 27.
This specific version, that specifically refers to the Covid-19 testing procedures to adopt, as well as on what social distancing and behaviour policies and the event’s overall realization concerns, was analysed and deserved the agreement from that Azorean Government Department.
Grupo Desportivo Comercial Chairman of the Board stated that “we are happy with the decision of the Regional Health Authority because it means that the Azores Rallye Anti-Covid-19 Task Force was efficient and that the Contingency Plan presented includes all recommendations issued by the Azorean Health Authorities, a document that will define the behaviour of everyone involved on the event, from the competitors and their teams, as well as the spectators and the media, based on sanitary measures needed to be fully complied in order for the event to be a success”. Rui Moniz continues, stating that “we’re aware that the day-by-day analysis of the epidemiologic situation will determine if any additional measures will be needed to be taken, but we trust on the Azorean Health authorities and on its work near the Azoreans.”
By his turn, the Azores Government Regional Health Director stated that “due to its importance for the Azores, the subject ‘Azores Rallye’ deserved our total commitment and attention, since it is an event that joins people from several parts of the world and it happens on a time period that is supposed to be very near to a predictable Covid-19 second wave, despite the weather stills worm and so, better than the winter.” Tiago Lopes reminds that “the cooperation from everyone is very important, specially from the spectators, who should comply with all recommendations issued by the authorities and the event’s organizer, so that the rally may occur without incidents that might prejudice its realization”.
Grupo Desportivo Comercial, the Azores Rallye event organizer, will now focus its efforts on this approved plan dissemination throughout everyone involved, hoping for their full compliance, which communication will start on the public presentation press conference that will happen soon.
The event, that will be held in São Miguel island between 17 and 19 September, has its registration period open since July, 20 with many competitors showing their will to be present at the Azorean round of the FIA ERC, on what is expected to be another memorable edition of the Azores Rallye, that might count with the best performers from the FIA European Rally Championship, the Portuguese Rally Championship and the Azorean Rally Championship.
