The 56th Azores Rallye started with the Lagoa Stage, which determined the starting order for one of the main events of the archipelago. With a modified layout in relation to the recent past, the Lagoa Stage started on the road that gives access to one of the icons of the municipality and of the island of São Miguel, Lagoa do Fogo.
The cars participating in this session then stayed in Parc Fermé located in Praça Nossa Senhora da Graça, right in the centre of the city where the Grupo Desportivo Comercial, organiser of this rally eligible for the European, national and regional championships , is based. The Azores Rallye, in reverse order, proved one of the mottos of the municipality, “from the sea to the mountains”.
