Nil Solans will start the 57th edition of the Azores Rallye. The Spanish driver, who has already won one race in Portugal, the Serra de Fafe Rally in 2022, will be driving a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, a car whose care will be taken by the Race Seven team, structure that also supports the Norwegian Veiby. Solans has already taken part in the event organised by Grupo Desportivo Comercial, in 2021 and with a car identical to the one he will drive this year, but he did not finish due to an accident.
30 years old, born in April 1992, Nil Solans made his rallying debut in 2012 with a Peugeot 107 and immediately stood out at class level. Two years later he internationalised his career by appearing at some WRC events behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta R2. He gained experience and in 2017 he was champion in the junior competition, JWRC, of the world championship. That same year he was also the winner of WRC3 with a Ford Fiesta R2T.
The following year he moved to more competitive cars, Ford Fiesta R5 and Skoda Fabia R5. It was at the wheel of the Czech model that he was Spanish Gravel Champion in 2020, a season in which he also achieved his first overall triumphs. In 2021 he alternated between ERC and WRC, and last year, with a VW Polo GTi R5, he attended four ERC events, winning half of them, in the Serras de Fafe and Islas Canarias rallies.
