It was with great consternation that the Grupo Desportivo Comercial Board of Direction and the Organizing Committee of the Azores Airlines Rally received the news of the sudden disappearance of Horácio Franco, one of the Azorean motorsports iconic and unmistakable name.
Horácio Franco leaves us, in the certainty that his achievements, as an athlete and as a fundamental piece in the promotion of the Azores and of the Azorean motorsports, leave his name engraved in the national and regional motorsport history, as well as they were inspiration and reason for passion for thousands of Azorean enthusiasts of the sport. More than any sporting result he may have achieved in his career, Horácio Franco is and will always be one of his most distinguished members, on his own merit and prestige, in the gallery of the most notable of the Azores Rally and the rallying in the Azores.
Therefore, the Grupo Desportivo Comercial Board of Direction and the Organizing Committee of the Azores Airlines Rallye hereby express a great regret for the passing of Horacio Franco and address to his family the most sincere condolences.
