Jonathan Hirschi was the winner of the Rallye du Chablais, sixth of eight events of the Tour European Rally Series that took place this weekend in Switzerland, around the city of Aigle. The event was contested on 14 tarmac special stages and at the front during the first section was Mike Coppens with a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo. Hirschi, driving a Citroën C3 Rally2 only took the lead during one stage, and Coppens ended the first of the two days’ competition in the lead, 4.9 seconds ahead.
The future winner took off on the second day to attack, reduced the gap and moved into the lead on SS 9, never to leave that position again. Hirschi ended the race in a quieter way, as his main opponent withdrew in the following stage.
Also on the podium were Jonathan Michellod and Sacha Althaus, both with Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo. With two races to the end of the season, the TER Series is led by Italian Andrea Crugnola, with 64 points, followed by Frenchman Yoann Bonato and Swiss Jonathan Hirschi, both with 33. The competition resumes on September 2, in Wales, with Rally Ceredigion.
