Nil Solans will be at the start of the 57th edition of the Azores Rallye, “an event which, for me, is the most beautiful I have ever seen. The Azores are a natural paradise, with fantastic views, and the roads are very demanding for the drivers. This edition will be really interesting as it will have many fast local drivers and also world champions, like Loeb. Personally, I’ve been there a few years ago but we were forced to retire in the first special stage. So this will be a learning experience”.
The Spanish driver, who is driving a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo in the Grupo Desportivo Comercial race, was born in April 1992 and made his rallying debut at the age of 20 in a Peugeot 107. After many successes in his class, in 2014 he moved on to international races and in 2017 he was world junior champion with a Ford Fiesta R2T. Since then he has been at the wheel of more competitive cars and in 2020 he won the Spanish dirt title with a Skoda Fabia R5. He then alternated between WRC and ERC and in 2022 won the Serras de Fafe and Islas Canarias rallies.
