CAR: WHAT’S NEW?

The Campeonato dos Açores de Ralis (Azores Rally Championship) has very few changes for this year. The calendar continues to include seven events and the start is given by the 56th Azores Rallye, between March 25 and 27. The calendar also includes the following rallies: Além Mar Ilha Azul, to be held on 22 and 23 April in Faial, Além Mar from 3 to 4 June in São Miguel, Além Mar TAC, 8 and 9 July in Terceira, Além Mar Santa Maria, from 12 to 13 August on the island of the same name, Picowines, in Pico from 23 to 24 September, and Além Mar Ilha Lilás, again in Terceira from 28 to 29 October.
The regulations of this competition were hardly changed and the scoring system was kept as well as the number, six, of results to be considered for the final accounts of the championship. The big difference is that this year there will be a bonus in the points, to be collected in the Power Stage, a new feature for 2022. This stage will have to be indicated by the organisers and the choice will have to fall on one of the stages of the last section or even the last of the event. In the case of the 56th Azores Rallye, the Power Stage will be the second run through Tronqueira, as only the first leg will be eligible for the CAR.
