FLAT OUT SINCE THE BEGGINING

Andreas Mikkelsen returns to Azores Rallye and “I’m looking forward to come over. This rally is one of my favourites since I was there the first time. It was a great experience. Amazing stages and the island is just so beautiful with lovely people as well. It is always a great pleasure to come to the Azores. In this edition the mileage is not so long. That means that to have a good result you’ll have to push flat out since the very beginning. I know the stages quite well. Last time I was there it was two years ago and we won after a fight with Dany Sordo For sure it will be intense this time with many good drivers and I want to congratulate organisers for this. This make things really exciting for the fans, for the drivers… We will have a great event. I hope the weather will stay nice and that we can really enjoy. Hopefully no cows this year on the stages (smile). I can’t wait…”

The 33-year-old Norwegian driver has won the Azores Rallye on two occasions, in 2012 and 2021, and will be at the wheel of a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2. Mikkelsen made his rallying debut at the age of 16 in a Ford Fiesta S2000 and took his first overall victories shortly afterwards. He has represented various brands in the WRC, was one of the drivers responsible for developing the model he will drive, and his CV includes the European and WRC2 titles in 2021, as well as the IRC titles in 2011 and 2012.
