For Bruno Magalhães, “the Azores Rallye is a race that I love, very special. I’ve already won it three times and my goal is to try to get a fourth victory. Our big goal is, of course, the Portuguese Rally Championship and we want to recover some of the delay accumulated in Fafe. Nevertheless, it is our wish to try to get the best absolute general classification possible and here we will have extra motivation. This is a very technical rally where the weather conditions are not always the best and change from one side of the island to the other as well as, sometimes, between competitors. We are prepared and we only wish that the public also follows the rally with the same enthusiasm and safety as always. Let it be a party!”
Bruno Magalhães, 41 years old, debuted in rallying in 1999 with a VW Golf GTi 16V. Already with a Peugeot 206 GTi, he won the mono-brand trophy with the model in 2004. He then represented the lion’s brand until 2015, and in that time he was national champion three times, between 2007 and 2009. After a few years of sporadic competition, he militated for two years in the ERC and was European vice-champion in 2017 manning a Skoda Fabia R5. In 2019 he returned to the national championship with a Hyundai and has been fighting for the title. In 2022 he will be at the wheel of an i20N Rally2.
