Description


Starting the ridge overlooking Povoação village, this special stage allows associating the enormous beauty of Povoação landscapes, Furnas and north coast of the island of São Miguel to great motorsport emotions. Extensive and technical, this special stage begins at the Planalto area, near the wind generators follows into a forest road, coming to an end in the rapid and wide descent to “Algarvia” place. A special stage not to be missed.

SZ 14 – Planalto Graminhais (N37 47,839 | W25 15,663) Fast chained curves sequence with visibility over Povoação village. Magnificent scenery.

  • When driving at Avenida Infante D. Henrique, at Ponta Delgada, drive East;
  • On the roundabout, take exit towards “Ribeira Grande/Lagoa”;
  • Right after passing “Lagoa” exit, take exit towards “Povoação (Via Norte)/Nordeste/Ribeira Grande”;
  • Keep on fast lane. At the roundabout located at the end of the fast lane,, drive towards “Furnas/Nordeste”. Reset your car’s trip meter;
  • Drive forward towards “Nordeste”;
  • At km 27,10, take right exit towards “Achadinha/Salga/Ribeira dos Caldeirões”;
  • On the roundabout, take second exit towards “Ribeira dos Caldeirões”;
  • Drive forward keeping on main road;
  • At km 27,50, right after “Achadinha” final sign, turn right on an wide ascending concrete road. Reset your car’s trip meter again;
  • At km 1,3, after a crest, turn right near the water refill zone;
  • At km 1,4, turn left to tarmac road;
  • Keep on tarmac road, driving until you find the spectator zone, at km 8,10;

 

SZ 15 – Final (N37 50,314 | W25 13,877) Fast descend followed by fast curve just before the end

  • When driving at Avenida Infante D. Henrique, at Ponta Delgada, drive East;
  • On the roundabout, take exit towards “Ribeira Grande/Lagoa”;
  • Right after passing “Lagoa” exit, take exit towards “Povoação (Via Norte)/Nordeste/Ribeira Grande”;
  • Keep on fast lane. At the roundabout located at the end of the fast lane,, drive towards “Furnas/Nordeste”. Reset your car’s trip meter;
  • Drive forward towards “Nordeste”;
  • At km 31,80, take exit towards “Algarvia/Santo António Nordestinho”;
  • Keep right and at roundabout, take exit towards “Algarvia”;
  • At the road triangle separator with flowers, keep right lane and then forward until you find “Rua da Quinta” street;
  • Turn right, going through the tunnel and you’ll find the parking lodge;
  • Then walk on gravel road. At the end you’ll find the spectator zone.
